Sanibel Sunrise

This shot came out looking really neat after I applied grey as the color accent. It sort of brings out a misty look.
Today is session 3 with our marriage counselor/pastor. He's really cool, actually! We're thinking of taking a members class after this. I have been wanting to find a church that is right for me.. for a while now. And Billy likes it there too. So, JACKPOT!
Lastnight, right after work, I painted for the first time in forever! I actually sort of like how this one came out- I didn't really have a plan, and I didn't really think much about it... I just did it! Pretty much just swirls of yellows and browns.. and a little reddish browns, blended together, to create a mess of messy mess. I'm going to try more like this.. I tend to try way too hard most of the time, and I end up hating the painting afterwards.. to the point where they make me nauseous!!
I am going to just let go on the canvas more often.. It suprised me this time!

You are so funny! I am glad you found a church you and Billy like. Its great being a part of a church! Nice picture there! It does have a misty effect!

I have the same problem Tamara, thinking too much about it. My mother gave me new canvases and paints, etc for my birthday recently and I still have'nt touched them because I'm looking for the perfect subject for a trichtype. Silly. I should just start and see what happens, otherwise they'll still be there in 6 months, pristine.
Love the photo, very misty and calming, the grey tone worked beautifully, I'll have to give that a try.

Canvas can be so pricey, sometimes it's so easy to cherish it for the right moment, because you don't want to waste it! Well, for me anyways.. I'm just cheap! I did get alot of them for gifts, too.. and it's almost better if you just make use of them-instead of letting it collect dust... whether you come up with a masterpiece or not! And you can always paint over it, if you have to, right? :)

This is a wonderful dream imagy Tamara, I love the way you have taken this. I also can SOOO relate to your painting dilema, I have these also and also get to the point where you physically feel nauseous (I have often wondered if it is the paint itself of the sheer determination to get it right), either way, the best paintings flow I think when you are really relaxed, try a glass of wine while you are painting... it makes so much difference :o) Enjoy, have a great weekend!

I love freely painting on my canvas & while the paint is still wet - - - I scrape away some of it to reveal paint & patterns underneith... sometimes making the scrapes into some kind of scenery.
